# How to check live view and playback in the AI Color VMS

### Checking live view

1. Launch the **AI Color VMS** software, click [here](https://ametawiki.ametagroup.com/docs/ai-color-vms) to download. The following steps demonstrate the process on a Windows system. The procedure on macOS is very similar, and you can refer to the Windows steps as a guide.

1. On the home page, click on the **Mainview**.

1. Expand the device list, right-click your recorder, and select 'Open All Channels. The live view will be displayed.

1. Hover the mouse over any icon to display its information for reference.

### Checking playback

1. On the home page, click on the **Playback.**

1. Select your device and choose the channel you want to check. Use Search Config to specify the search results. Left click on the timeline to play the recording from that time.
