Physical Setup
The camera can be installed in the center or side of lane, with different recommended distances for mounting.
The relationship between the installation height(H) and the capture distance(X) is X≥1.7*H. If possible, place a license plate on the road to help adjust the installation angle and height.
Caution:
- Avoid installing the camera in an east-west direction.
- Do not install the camera facing direct sunlight or reflective surfaces.
On the Local Monitor
- Click on Main Menu icon in the bottom left corner and click on Setup button.
- Select Detection Setup from the AI Section.
- Click on License Plate, select the channel you want to configure, check the box under the 'Switch' column, and then click the 'Apply' button to Enable the feature.
- Click the gear icon to access the setup page.
- Use the drop-down box to select the Channel. Select the Detection Target based on your local license plate type. Left click anywhere within the video frame and drag to draw the detection line. When a vehicle crosses this line, its license plate will be captured and recognized. Enable the License Plate Enhance option to improve performance in low-light conditions (note that this may cause the view to appear very dark in such environments). You can adjust the other parameters or leave them at their default settings.
- Click Recognition, then select License Plate Management. There are three default groups: Allow List, Block List, and Unknown. Check the box to enable a list or click the pencil icon to edit it. You can back up the database to a USB flash drive or import one from it by clicking the ' Backup Database' or ' Import Database' buttons. Click Apply to save your settings.
- On the Edit page of the list:
- Import: Manually create a new plate entry.
- Import from CSV: Upload a list from an existing CSV file.
- Import from Local: Import a plate from a previously captured snapshot.
- Delete: Remove the plate entry.
- Move to: Transfer the entry to another list.
- Export: Export the selected entry to a CSV file.
- Click the pencil icon to modify an existing entry.
- Click Alarm, then click License Plate Recognition. On this page, you can configure actions to be taken when a plate in any list is detected. Click the Apply button after making any modifications.
- Search License Plate: Click the Playback icon in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, Click AI, Click License Plate, set the time duration, and enter the license plate number you are looking for (or leave it blank). Select the channel you want to search and then click the Search button. The search results will be displayed on the right. Lower fault tolerance leads to more accurate search results.
- The AI Color VMS software also supports license plate search functionality and offers better performance.
